My name is Sean Bullen, Headteacher at Millfield Science & Performing Arts College. If you are a parent/carer or have ever been to Millfield, you are a member of “Team Millfield”.
I have been Headteacher here for twelve years. Our school is a smaller than average secondary school, and we think it is a happy, safe place for students to learn. We want our students to be well educated, as well as well qualified; that is why we believe in the full educational experience. We have an absolute commitment to extra-curricular clubs and activities in all areas, but especially we have a commitment to the Arts and Sport.
Following our best ever results in 2016 on the old grading system, our provisional Progress 8 figure for 2017 is currently the best on the Fylde coast. This is the new key measure of the progress children make between the end of primary school and the end of secondary school, so we are very proud of this. In recent years we were one of only a tiny number of secondary schools in the country to win a national award (Pupil Premium Award Winner 2014). In 2015 we had a prestigious visit from Sir Michael Wilshaw, who was at that time the Chief of OFSTED, and this year we were again massively over-subscribed with 225 first choices for 170 places.
Things look good, but there is no complacency here. We will strive to improve all we do, to look to be the best school we can be for the community.
Yours in partnership,
Mr Sean, M. Bullen
