Millfield's PTFA began in the Summer of 2009 with a Garden Party launch event in July. The event was very well attended despite the weather not being very kind to us. Our award winning Environmental Garden was open for tours by Mr Atherton and Mr Thompson and the Assembly Hall was packed with various stalls and fun activities. The stage was taken up by performances from some of our students and Northern Taekwondo Club gave us an action packed display. The barbeque was very popular as were the cake stalls and bottle tombola.
Following on from this success we held a KS3 Christmas disco in December 2009 and our Easter Bingo in March 2010 was also well attended.
Every term we collect unwanted clothing, paired shoes, bedding and soft toys for Bags2School. All donations are sent to developing countries and we earn 50p per kilo. We hope to have continued success in future to help us with our fundraising.
The money we have raised so far has helped to fund the purchase of a new uniform for the Cheerleading Team which meant that they could take part in Thornton Cleveleys Gala; a fantastic representation of Millfield within the community! We have also donated £300 towards the completion of the Bridge Project in the Environmental Garden in the Summer of 2010. Our current, and on-going appeal, is to raise enough money to buy a new school mini-bus so please support us when you can.
We are keen to develop the PTFA at Millfield and you will see us at Open Evening, Year 6 Induction Evening and various other events throughout the year with our Refreshments Committee.
We hold regular, informal meetings and welcome new members to help us with our events and present new ideas for fundraising to benefit all the students at Millfield.
